See Mars Through the Rover’s Eyes

How many of us have ever dreamed of setting foot on an alien world? When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut and explore the universe like Captain Kirk. Hopping from galaxy to galaxy, having all sorts of adventures and meeting amazing alien species. And while the human race has yet to gain the technology to warp through space, we have managed to land on another world. I don’t know about you guys, but when I watched this video I got chills.

So what do you guys think? Would you brave the dangers of space for the chance to see another world? I think we all know what I would choose ;)

Did they modify the colors at all or it as most humans would see it? Because it really looks like some of the deserts of NM….like I have been rock collecting and hiking there. Maybe this is a video from their field tests?

Once we have mass transport down with only a few dozen shipping accidents a year, I will happily plan a vacation to Mars or the Moon or Pluto. Perhaps a Planetary Cruise is in order? Low G shuffle board anyone?

I’m sure they add some color. Most space photos are done that way. But they base the colors on the elemental composition so it’s really close to what we would see with our naked eye. It’s funny you mention deserts in NM: they tested the first moon rover in the deserts outside Flagstaff, AZ because the terrain was very similar to what they would find up there on the moon.

I’m soooooooooo with you on the space vacations! No Recall for me. I want the real deal ;)

That’s so cool. I always wanted to set foot on another planet. That alone would be worth the price of the ticket to go there.

I know, right?? Maybe when we’re old and grey we can hop on board a space shuttle and see the dark expanse of the universe

True. I remember reading an article where a couple of manufacturing companies are working towards building a colony on the moon using robots and 3D copiers. They already use them to build here on Earth so there is hope.
