Author Cp Bialois: The Sword and the Flame

Please help me in welcoming the awesomely amazing Cp Bialois!!!! He has a new book launching September 6th called The Sword and the Flame: The Purging. It’s the second book of the series (the first is Sword and the Flame: The Forging). I invited him to come chill with me so he can tell y’all about his new book and a little insight into one of the main characters.

LOVE this cover!

First, I want to thank Shay Fabbro for allowing me to borrow her blog today and to thank all of you. Without you, we’d be out of business or talking to ourselves (I still talk to myself, it’s fun and I have some good arguments. 🙂

Wait, so I’m not the only one that talks to myself! SCORE! Oops, sorry, carry on Cp!

Coming September 6 the second and final installment of the Sword and the Flame series will be launching on amazon.com. WOOT!!! One of the things I truly love about this process is you get to look back on your work and see how it all came together. With that in mind, here’s a little something I noticed about the main character in the series.

One of the things I tend to do is put pieces of myself into my characters. In the case of the Sword and the Flame series, I put a good chunk of my own experiences while growing up into him. It was something I did sub-consciously and didn’t even realize until later. Talk about surprises.

I put myself into my characters on purpose and they can still surprise me at times!

In the story, Berek believed he was sold into slavery by his father for being different and having magical abilities. Throughout his lifetime, he struggles to find his way and purpose in life. It’s not until he comes across the small city of Hope and meets Janessa and Viola that his destiny begins to unfurl. In the end, he becomes something he never imagined possible and attempts to save the world.

Now, what does that have to do with me? Welcome to me being a head case 101. As a child, I was often looked down on by others for being fat, eager to please, and seemingly unintelligent because I was always quiet. While those perceptions changed somewhat as I grew older, the one that stuck with me was the unintelligent one. Everywhere I turned, it seemed as though only my friends, some of the teachers, and my family understood me.

I was often passed over as being a nice guy but quiet and talked down to by some of the other children when I understood things on a different level than them. Like Berek, it was a combination of not wanting to be different and being taught at an early age not to make a scene that kept me in my shell. Now, nearly twenty years since graduating high school, that shell has been shattered and scattered to the four winds. I’ve enjoyed finding myself and learning the confidence my parents tried to teach me. It’s a parallel that I didn’t realize existed and I’m overjoyed as coming out being whole in both aspects.

Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I think those that struggle the most growing up are often the most well-adjusted as adults.

Thank you once more to Shay and to all of you for your time.

Happy to have you my friend! My website is always open to you! Now, lets tell the folks how they can connect with you!!!
