What Would You Do? Part Five

In light of the post from last week about characters coming to live with us in the real world, I thought it would be fun to do another installment of What Would You Do? and sort of have it be a Who Would You Bring From the Past to the Present?

That’s too much for a tweet though…

If you could go back in time and bring one person to come hang in the present for a few days without any repercussions and with them not remembering anything about their journey, who would you bring and why? There’s so many amazing folks that would be fascinated to see what the year 2012 is like. Would you bring a Greek philosopher, prophet, scientist, writer, teacher, child? The possibilities are endless!

I would choose an early scientist, like Gregor Mendel, and let him see how much his work has evolved and how much more we know about genetics. I think it would blow his mind!

Leave a comment with who you would bring to come stay with you for the weekend and why you chose that historical figure and I will pick a random commenter to win a paperback copy of DANGEROUS REFLECTIONS and TWISTED REFLECTIONS, my YA series about a girl names Alexis Davenport, teen drama, and time travel!

These would make a great gift for that special reader in your life 🙂

Dang, that’s a hard question. I think Mark Twain (Sam Clemmons) he was well versed in many subjects of the time and an interesting person. Or H.G. Wells, for the same reason.

      Oooooo, those are good choices!

I think I would pick Moses. I would love to hear everything from him first hand about what happened in his life. How it felt to deal with all that God asked him to do. Though, I think he’d be horrified with what the world is like now.

That would be so COOL!!! Or Jesus himself. Or Ruth, or Ester!

Yep, any of those! Not sure why I didn’t go with Jesus actually. *facepalm*

Personally, I would choose Edgar Allan Poe. I think he had a brilliant mind. I’d love to pick his brain. Or perhaps John Lennon.

I should mention that although my choices are pop-culture figures, I could argue that they both changed the face of their respective genres, so historically they matter. 🙂

They totally count as historical figures! 😀

I can’t put a name on my characters but I would really like to have the person who first thought of melting rock to create beautiful articles in precious metal amd maybe the person who thought it a good idea launching some kind of wood onto the sea, sit on or in it and go exploring – so if the time machine can manage it from Neolithic times please:)

I would bring Jane Austen because she challenged social norms in her novels and argued for women having more say over their own lives. It doesn’t seem like much now with our modern view but at the time, the idea that a woman should have some say over her life was a very radical idea. “You will inherit your fortune, we can’t even earn ours.” From Sense and Sensibility.

That’s an awesome choice! I wonder what she would say about the amazing women of today?

I would be inclined to bring Boudica or Hatshepsut or Hypatia to the present for a few days and show how far equality has come and how far it still has to go. The greater equality we have, the more scientists, teachers, leaders, artitsts, etc. we have.
