Woke Up This Morning and my Whole World Was Screwed Up!!!!

Have you ever had that surreal out-of-body experience where you thought that perhaps some force had deposited you on some other world or that perhaps you had pulled a Rip van Winkle and slept through a few weeks?

That happened to me this morning.

For the past month, Grand Junction (Colorado) has dealt with lingering snow due to below freezing temperatures. It’s quite out of the ordinary for us but after a month of seeing the white stuff that just never melts, you kinda get used to it.

Enter in storm front that raises temperatures overnight, sunshine peeking through yesterday afternoon (barely even needed a coat!), and clouds overnight that held in the toasty warm heat and you get the reason for my freak out moment this morning.

I pulled out of the garage at around 7 am to head into the university (first class is at 8), got into the street and put the car in drive…and froze.

That’s right. Literally froze. Normally this behavior would be from seeing Gerard Butler naked or a T-Rex or something but all I saw was no white. The snow was pretty much gone. From every house on the street. It was bizarre as hell! Cuz the friggin snow was there the night before. As I drove (very slowly) around the corner to exit the neighborhood, there was a few lonely white patches on the north facing houses but the rest was gone.

Maybe it was the earthquake we had last week? It’s all over folks!

If you miss the snow that much, we’ll be more than happy to send you some of our extra. Yesterday’s forecast “snow showers” turned into 4″ during the day and another 6-8 inches last night. And another storm is brewing just off the horizon. The weirdest weather event I remember was going shopping in Livingston, Montana one winter day. The sun was shining, temperature in the mid-40’s or so – lovely day. When we came out about a half hour later, the skies were cloudy and the temperature had dropped about 30 degrees. My husband looked at me and said “Did we come out the wrong door?”

ROFL!! I am actually happy to see the snow go. I think we’re in for more as well *sigh* It was just weird to have missed the Great Melting of 2013
