There is simply not enough flirting in modern society.  Understand, by flirting I don’t mean, “casually harassing a strange person with undesired commentary on their physical attractiveness.”  What I mean is a kind of banter and charged, affectionate exchange.  Properly conducted flirtation can put a zing into any ordinary day, making your cheeks flush just a little and your head rise up a bit more proudly.

While flirtation can, in many contexts, carry a sexual connotation (that guy at the bar right before last call isn’t telling jokes just to amuse you), that’s definitely not a requirement.  You can flirt with anyone.  I’ve flirted with straight men, gay women, straight women, and gay men.  Why?  Because flirting is fun.  It gives ordinary conversation a little sparkle and shine.

    Flirting can be fun and I was always pretty good at it when I was younger. I haven’t been in to many situations lately that calls for it though. And my husband would probably take it wrong if he saw me flirting lol!
